Me and my boyfriend were looking for somewhere nice and local in Tiverton to have a meal out together. We came across these reviews so thought we would give 'The Cellar Restaurant' a try. We were greeted nicely and offered the opportunity to have a look at the menu and have a drink in the snug area, which was relaxed and just lovely. When our food was ready we were taken to our table, and the food was just perfect. Just the right quantity, and a delight on the tongue! The service was also relaxed yet you felt you were being well looked after. We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant, and we are very happy to have found such a gem so locally!

Found this intriguing place during the day and just had to come back in the evening for a meal. So glad we did! Fabulous food, fresh, tasty and beautifully prepared. Reasonable prices. Very hospitible and friendly owners. The atomosphere was great, and the decoration is just right, nothing kitch about the place at all. Seems like a bit of a hidden secret at the moment but I predict before long you will have to reserve in advance!
I was told about the cellar restaurant by friends who had visited in passing, so I decided to try it for myself. On my visit I was very pleased by the friendly service and great atmosphere. My steak was good quality and cooked to perfection, whilst my dinner guest was raving about the fish course. Overall a very pleasing experience and I'll definitely be going back. Highly recommended.
My wife and I desided to try the Cellar restaurant for lunch on Sunday as we had heard good thing about it since it reopened, we were greeted by the owners who were very friendly and could not have been more hospitible,we both thought that the restaurant was tastefully decorated and the lounge area was a nice place to relax whilst waiting to have our order taken, the food was extremely good all fresh produce and very very tasty. My wife and myself could not have felt more welcome at the Cellar the service was promp friendly and not to intrucive, i can not express how good the food was and we will certainly be going to return to have another meal there very soon.
Everyone in Tivvy should try the restaurant out they will be pleasently suprised
We went to the Cellar restaurant for New Year's Eve (2010). We had a set meal of 8 courses for a spectacular £35 pp. The food was world class. Champagne on arrival, delicious homemade wheaten bread (Im now officially hooked), they had run out of the crab cakes but with so much choice it was easy to opt for an alternative. Im so glad we did...the homemade caramelised onion and goats cheese tartlet was just scrumptious. One of our group had the smoked salmon and another had the homemade red pepper/garlic/tomato soup...all of which were as good as each other. Then the melon sorbet palette cleanser was absolutely declicious. The flavour of the cantaloupe melon really came through and was just a complete joy to taste. For main course 2 of us had the venison and 2 had the fillet steak...oh my goodness my taste buds were ecstatic. The venison was so tender and the sauce it was served with was absolutely delicious...all these dishes truly were world class and would not be out of place in the best dining houses of the finest hotels around the world. Chef Brian and his lovely wife Polly are sitting on a little gold mine here. They have that unique combination of fantastic homemade food of professional standard, warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere, making every customer feel like a personal friend and the all important value for money with affordable prices. What more could you want? This really is THE BEST RESTAURANT IN TIVERTON BY FAR...and when you visit, you simply MUST try Brian's homemade sticky toffee pudding...it has to be tasted to believed and I defy anyone to say that they have tasted better anywhere else! Well done Polly and Brian and thank you for making us feel so welcome. We are proud to say we are now going to be firm regulars. Y Bray - Bideford North Devon

We recently popped into the restaurant just on the off chance as I had not made a booking. We were made to feel very welcome and relaxed.
The service was great; the choice of food was great, so much to choice.
The whole night was enjoyed by us all; we would recommend this restaurant to every one as you are made to fill so relaxed.
Thank you Polly & Brain for a wonderful night
We wish you all the best for 2011.
At last we have a great british/european restaurant in the town. We've visited a few times and have had a different main each time. Every meal has been full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Brian and Polly always make you welcome and we can't wait to dine there again.

Tried out " The Cellar Restaurant " `in Tiverton, whilst visiting family in the area. From the moment you walk in you receive a very friendly welcome. The restaraunt itself is very tastefully decorated to make it feel very cosy and inviting. The food itself was out of this world,Myself ,my wife and my 12 year old son all ordered different mains from the menu and none of us where dissapointed.I had the chicken in tarragen sauce , it just melted in your mouth and the sauce you just did not want it to end.All portions where very genorous . Then came the deserts...wow....again there was no dissapointment....my son had the hot chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream..it got to the stage where we had to take the plate off him or the would be no pattern left on it...Overall the experience was very enjoyable and we would not hesitate to return to " The Cellar Restaurant " next time we travel down to the Tiverton area. The restaraunt is run by a young couple who are both very polite and welcoming..we wish them all the best in the future.
