BAD news for homeowners in Tiverton's detached houses as the average price has plummeted.

A detached house in June 2005 would cost you somewhere in the region of £243,000, today a similar house would cost just £198,500. That is down 18 percent.

In comparison, those living in a semi have seen their fortunes reversed. In June 2005, a house would have cost somewhere in the region of £156,500, but today you could expect to sell your semi for £210,000, up 34 percent in five years.

Terraced housing and flats have also seen smaller increases in their valuation.

Across the board however, the desire to sell has slumped. Some of Tiverton's own estate agents have been forced to close because of it.

Terraced housing sales were down 59 percent, semi down 50 percent and detached down 40 percent.

If you are planning on a move, then there are still several estate agents in town looking for your custom.

Watts & Sons seem to be one of the most popular estate agents in the town with a five start rating here on the Tiverton People website. They certainly know the area well as the team there have all been born and bread in the town itself.

There is also Greenslade Taylor Hunt, 9 Angel Terrace, Stags, Nick Seddon, and Weldon Kathy Property Lettings.

Anyone wanting to buy a lovely new house nearby need look no far as there is a house on the market between Tiverton and Cullompton for £2,450,000.  The property has seven bedrooms, swimming pool, three reception rooms - it doesn't mention anything about a helipad though, which surely will keep it on the market.....
