Got any questions or issues on waste and recycling?
Come to our meeting at
Old Heathcoat School Community Centre
King Street, West Exe, Tiverton
2.30pm -Thursday 11th February 2010
Speakers will be available from Mid-Devon District Council to help us to discuss how well we are doing with Recycling in Mid-Devon. Sita (a recycling and resource management company) says: “We want to live in a society where there is no more waste, a society where waste materials are re-used, recycled or recovered for their energy content.”
We would all like to reduce waste and to be better at recycling. We may feel some frustrations and have many questions about the current situation. This is an opportunity to clarify what can and cannot be recycled locally and ask lots of questions:
What can go in my Brown Bin? When I pick up leaves etc there may be some mud or gravel with them – Is this a problem?
What kind of plastic can I recycle? – How? – Why can’t I put plastics in the black box?
What happens to clothes which I put into the black box?
How can I dispose of old furniture or other items?
What is the landfill situation? How does this relate to climate change?
What about food waste? Disposable nappies? Cat litter?
What kind of glass can I recycle –What about broken glass/light bulbs?
Please come along with your own questions – We look forward to meeting you.
