Thousands Raised in Golf Club Captain's Day

GOLFERS in Tiverton have raised thousands for charity last month on Captain's Day.
Tiverton Golf Club held it's annual Captain's Day event on June 20, and have so far raised over £2,500 for the Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT).
Over 200 players took part on the day, and there was also a BBQ and disco in the evening.
Each year the club captain decides which charity the golf club will support. 2009 captain Paul Steele said: "I chose CHAT because I heard they were a local charity, doing what I believe is a very worthy cause. They're based in Gold Street, so I'm very happy to be supporting them.
"Captain's Day was a wonderful day, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The weather was fantastic, and there was a superb hog roast. I couldn't ask for anything more."
CHAT give free housing advice to people, and helps people without a home, to find decent, secure, and affordable housing.
Money raised by the golf club will be used in the youth mediation service. Adrian Richfield from CHAT said: "We are trying to help young people who have had to leave their own homes, or do not have a home. The money the golf club have raised will help us to give young people a chance in life, and help them for the future.
"I'd like to thank Paul, and everyone at the golf club for their support this year."

"Free housing advice"?
Right... but they need charity money in order to do so. Do they also pay for the housing?
I'm quite skeptical with these charities. Although, kudos to the golfers and the money they've raised. I would personally donate to schools or hospitals.
