TIVERTON MP Neil Parish has been speed-networking with carers in the House of Commons to better understand their lives in this constituency.

The event, inspired by the social sensation of speed-dating, meant that Neil had just minutes to discuss the differing experiences with a number of unpaid carers, and to find out what their lives are truly like on a daily basis. The discussion included ways in which carers lives could be improved, through better support, recognition, and advice.
The Westminster event was held as part of Carers' Week, whose new research has shown that over three quarters of people looking after an ill, frail or disabled loved one do not have a life outside of their caring role. Four out off five have had to give up leisure activities or going out socially since they became a carer.
Neil Parish MP said after the event: “It’s clear that many carers are sacrificing their own lives, unable to do the little things that most of us take for granted in order to carry out vital caring duties for their families and friends, and for our community. These unsung heroes are also sacrificing their own health, both physical and mental.
“As a politician, I aim to influence and to bring about real change for carers in Tiverton and Honiton and will be raising their concerns in Westminster. We need to ensure that respite centres such as the Bungalow Facility at Honiton Hospital stay open. I want to give carers back their lives, their health and happiness so they can carry on doing what they do best: caring.”
Carers Week Manager, Paul Matz added: “We were delighted to welcome Neil to this event, and thank him for his support for those in a caring role.
"The difficulties and challenges that carers often face need to be understood by everyone in Parliament. The enthusiasm and commitment of so many new many MPs is heartening – they can make the difference and be responsible for policies that can change the lives of carers and those they look after.”
Carers Week is organised by a partnership of seven national charities: Carers UK, Counsel and Care, Crossroads Care, Help the Hospices, Macmillan Cancer Support, Parkinson’s UK and The Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

ReportDr Steele has different view around medicine given out by the NHS. He supports an advert which claims certain drugs, issued by the NHS, are bad for you.
Instead one has to "Buy" the tablets he supports, in the advert. ???
