Morrisons Dress in Pink to Raise Money for Cancer Research UK

STAFF at Tiverton Morrisons, ditched the chain's uniform for the day, and all turned up for work in an array of pink outfits.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Morrisons hope to raise £5000 for their chosen charity of the year, Cancer Research UK. The dress in pink day on October 23, not only included all the staff wearing pink, but also prizes for people who could guess how many sweets were in a jar.

Store manager Glen Allen said: "We've not done this before, but all the staff wanted to do it, and we've had a couple of outrageous pink clothed people about today.

"It's a really successful day, and we're raising lots of money for the charity. The customers are all enjoying seeing us in peculiar attire, so it's more than just their average weekly shop for them today.

"Each member of staff has donated £2 to the charity as well, and customers are happy to put their loose change into the buckets dotted around the store today."

Shoppers were greeted at the entrance by employees keeping fit on a cross trainer, with several staff members doing a fifteen minute stint on the exercise machine throughout the 14 hour day.

Tracey Tucker who is pictured on the cross trainer said: "I'm finding this really easy, it's good, and well worth my efforts. I've done an hour on this throughout the day already.

"My aunt has had cancer, so I know what she went through, and I'd do this every day if it raised money for such a good cause.

Deputy store manager, Stuart Chapman added: "I normally wear pink, so now everyone else is following my normal attire.

"It's a really good atmosphere here today with both staff and customers enjoying the fun."
