TIVERTON Rugby Club have presented cheques of £200 each to some of the towns charities.

Mid Devon Alliance for Special Children (MASC), The Gateway Club, Devon Air Ambulance and ASPIRE (supporting people with spinal injuries) each recieved a share of the money raised by the annual firework display in November.

Club president Mr Des Glanville who made the presentation said: "The Tiverton Rugby Club is proud of this Fireworks Display tradition which has been running for about 35 years and in that time it has raised over £20,000 for mainly local charities.

"Spectators at these events see over £2,500 worth of fireworks in a 25 minute display, which is well worth seeing."

Despite the rain, hundreds of people braved the damp conditions to see the Guy being burnt on top the bonfire, and for the twenty minute display of fireworks the club hosted on November 5 2010.

Skyburst from Gloucester who were contracted to oversee the £3,500 display, were once a part of the Uffculme based firework company which was destroyed in fire in 1998.
