HOSPISCARE are appealing for your help to turn Pine Lodge into a bright, multi-function centre.

The charity hope to raise £250,000 for the Mid Devon Day Hospice Appeal for the centre on Post Hill which will offer and range of support to patients and their families from day car, clinics and complementary therapies to carer and bereavement groups.

Community nurses will be based at the new Day Hospice which will also provide office and meeting space for fundraisers and supporters.

The property was purchased using a £463,000 Department of Health grant to help improve the service to families living terminally ill people in the area.

The charity which is based in Exeter, hopes to get the whole community involved to turn it into a thriving and inviting hub.

Chief Executive of Hospiscare Glynis Atherton said: "We are hoping the local community will take this project to their hearts,” she said. “We have an ambitious vision but we are sure we can make this happen together.

“We cannot let our mid Devon families down. We are very proud of our record – ensuring 90p in every pound raised goes directly to patient care and we hope the local community will understand how important this is.”

You can help to support the appeal by donating online.

This is great news for Tiverton. I hope other people will support it and donate. My mother needed a service like this back in 2004 before she died, it's a shame we didn't have it then in Tiverton.
