Tiverton Army Cadets are celebrating this week after being classed an above average detachment from their 2010 annual inspection. The inspection was carried out last year, which was the 150th anniversary of the Army Cadet Force, by the County Shooting Officer Captain Smith. Captain Smith had the opportunity to speak to each cadet in the detachment, and congratulated them on their turnout and bearing.

The annual inspection ensures that the detachment is delivering an appropriate level of training and that opportunities for personal development and achievement are offered to the young members of the detachment.
The above average award represents all the great achievements the detachment has had during 2010. This includes various activities to raise money for their charity fund, their entry into Tiverton Carnival alongside other community events such as selling poppies for the Royal British Legion and their attendance at the Ring and Ride’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
Other achievements in the detachment include a number of cadets enrolling in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, various star grade passes and promotions including Serjeant Jack Tooze and Company Serjeant Major Richard Salter. Serjeant Major Salter also achieved a Level 2 Award in Team Leading from the Institute of Leadership and Management after completing a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award leadership course.
