CREATIVE Cow Theatre Company are marking the 55th anniversary of John Osborne’s seminal play, Look Back in Anger.

The company, based in Bickleigh, will be performing at the New Hall on April 7 and 8 before taking the show on the road across the southern England.

Look Back In Anger transformed English theatre when it was first performed in the 1950s.  Its raw realism made John Osborne’s name and he soon became known as the original ‘Angry Young Man’.

The story follows Jimmy Porter, a disillusioned university graduate who spends his days railing at society, struggling to find his place in the world and whose powerful disaffection has devastating consequences for his long-suffering wife Alison and her best friend Helena.

The play has been directed by Creative Cow’s Artistic Director Amanda Knott.

Company member Katherine Senior plays Alison Porter and Jonathan Parish plays Cliff Lewis.  Piers Wehner is Jimmy Porter, with Lizzy Dive playing Helena Charles and Jack Hulland as Colonel Redfern.

The production will be on April 7 and 8 at 7.30pm in the New Hall Theatre on Barrington Street. Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased by phoning the box office on 01884 255827
