Can You Find the Crayfish?

EVERY time I head up along the leat just off of the town centre I always look for the crayfish.

The crayfish as seen in the Tiverton Leat.
Does anyone know how many of the little critters reside there? I can only every find one at a time!
I didn't even know they existed there until a few months ago when a friend pointed one out to me - he then went on to pick him up and place him gently back into the water.

Mojo - if you would like to email me tiverton@thelocalpeople.co.uk, I'm doing a short video on the plight of the crayfish. I would really like to include you and your children looking out for the family of the crayfish, and how they are troubled right now.

ReportI pass the leat every day now we've moved office, and always look out for the crayfish. I wondered where they would go because the leat seems to have stopped. I did see two the other day making the best of the rain.

ReportMyself and my kids have watched for the past 4 months or so on our walk to nursery how this family of crayfish have grown larger. However, recently due to the sewage works in the town the leat has been dry for the past few weeks and most of the crayfish can be found dead in the high street and up the leat. How sad.
