wear at events thanks to the Exe Valley Rotary Club.
The Rotary Club donated shirts to members of the Tiverton
Air Cadets, Sea Cadets and Uffculme Army Cadets to acknowledge their help at
the Rotary Club’s events such as the Sheep Show.
President of the Exe Valley Rotary Club, Colin Constable
said: “We seek the help of the cadets and they always come up trumps, so this
is a fantastic way to say thank you.
“Having been in the army myself, and seeing the great work
the cadets in our area do, it is a real pleasure to be able to make this
donation. They’re always on hand when we need them, and it’s nice to reward them
for all their hard work.”
The cadets help on stalls such as hoopla, welly wanging, and
skittles as well as picking up litter and answering questions from members of
public who may be lost.
Staff Sgt and Uffculme Detachment Commander Dave Carrington said:
“The hoodies will come in use during the winter months when cadets are outdoors
training and it is good for their corporate identity.
“We’re always willing to help at events as it is fun for the
cadets, and we can publicise ourselves as well as giving the youngsters a good
public image.”
The shirts feature a different logo for the air, sea, and
army cadet forces beside that of the Exe Valley Rotary Club. Corporal Harvey
Kelly of the Tiverton Air Cadets said: “The shirts look smart and people will know
that we’re involved with the Rotary Club when we where them.
“We’re always here to help out at all the different shows
and sports that happen in our area.”
Rachel Salamo, Sea Cadet instructor and former cadet added: “We
are very pleased about the donation of these shirts, and wish to thank the
Rotary Club for the generous donation.”
