To some, the next bank holiday scheduled for Friday 29th April will just be a welcome day off in the hurly burly world most of us live our lives in these days but for many local residents it’ll be a day to remember as plans are finalised to stage one of the largest ‘street’ parties to be held in recent years…!

Residents from the Moorhayes Community Association have joined forces with local Event’s Management company, P & C Entertainment Limited in an attempt to give the young, a glimpse into what made Britain great and the young at heart, a chance to relive some of the memories from days gone by when the community spirit was created by those who lived it!

As William and Kate make their wedding vows live in front of a record breaking TV audience, local residents will be able to follow their every word on the large screen TV that is to be set up inside the Community Centre, sharing in memories of days gone by in the comfortable surroundings of the hall.

Tea’s, coffee’s and light refreshments will be available throughout the whole day, as the function room is then turned around for the next phase of the planned celebration.

*From 2pm, residents will be treated to a feast of traditional entertainment on the playing fields at Moorhayes, including a Tug of War contest, 5-a-Side tournament, bouncy castles, face painters, barbeque, licensed bar, static displays, music and plenty of fun to keep the whole family entertained throughout the afternoon, culminating in one of the largest street parties ever seen in recent years!

Following on in the wake of the afternoons celebrations, the doors of the centre will re-open from 7pm and residents are invited to dance the night away with The Illuminations Roadshow, featuring Phil Morgan through until close at 11.30pm. The bar will remain open throughout the night and the barbeque will be available early evening!

Admission to the whole day is just £3.00’s per person payable at time of entry (concessions available), to include a place at the traditional street party held during the afternoon, entry to the disco in the evening and one entry to the raffle which will take place during the evenings entertainment.

For more information about the day, check out the Moorhayes Community Associations website located at http://tinyurl.com/6dgdlcy or by calling event organiser, Rachel Davis on Tiverton 254428.

DISCLAIMER *Please note, all outdoor elements of the event are subject to the prevailing weather conditions on the day, if the weather is particularly inclement, most of the events scheduled to be held outdoors, will be staged inside the hall. The organisers cannot be held responsible for a last minute change in the schedule and will do our best to ensure that advertised events will continue wherever it is deemed safe to do so.
