Do other vegans experience problems when eating out in Devon? Provision for vegans is so poor that we become pathetically grateful when given soya milk for our tea. There are more vegans (approx 350,000) in the UK than there are farmers. We have money in our pockets that we want to spend on food. Why is it so difficult?
I'm a vegitarian and I sympathise. Vegitarian food is often available but the quality is sometiomes very poor. Why cannot the general population understand that the individual will be healthier and green house gas production reduced significantly if meat eating ceased.

I'm not vegetarian and the thing that worries me is if we were all vegetarian why would we need any of the animals we currently grow for food.
The countryside would look very bare if there were no cows, sheep, goats etc.

If we were all vegetarian (or preferably vegan) we would not need the animals currently "grown",as you put it, for food. Farmers would simply cease to breed them. Recent research says tha tlivestock farming is responsible for more than 50% of greenhouse gasses. It is also extremely wasteful of water and a poor use of vegetable crops. It takes approx 10kilo of grain to produce just 1 kilo of meat.
In a world without farmed animals, the landscape would return to nature - better for wildlife, better for all of us.
