If you are free on Monday 4th June 2012 then come along to the Gran Western Canal's Towpath Party between 12noon – 4pm to help mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The event will take place in the Canal Basin in Tiverton with a live jazz band, hog roast, children's entertainers including circus skills, stilt performers, bouncy castle, pin the tail on the corgi, face painting and a treasure hunt.
Throughout the day the Tiverton Canal Company's horsedrawn barge will be running and their floating canalside café, the Duck's Ditty, will be offering a free drink of rum to all serving or former Navy personnel, as part of an old high seas tradition to 'splice the mainbrace'. You must be18 to qualify but the offer also extends to all armed forces, police, ambulance and fire service.
Many of the local primary schools have designed some bunting that will be on display at the canal's event and throughout the town. So come along and see if you can find your school's bunting.
It's sure to be a great way for local people to celebrate this special occasion.
