I would like to know if the police in Tiverton will be forced to make cuts by the government because of the deficit or can we be reassured our police team won't be affected?

Report
As with all public sector organisations in the current economic climate there is a great deal of speculation regarding budget cuts. However, it would be inappropriate to comment on these until the new budget is unveiled by Government.
Tiverton is home to Response, Crime Investigation Department, Mid-Devon Licensing and Neighbourhood Officers. These teams remain committed to ensuring that your town is a safe place to live. The teams have been recognised at local level with team awards including the Neighbourhood Team being recognised as Devon Team of the Year and individual awards of Devon Manager of the Year and PCSO of the Year. Our Neighbourhood Watch PCSO was recognised as a Champion and our Youth Intervention Officer received a Cream of Young Persons Award for her work with children and young people. Nationally the team were recognised as Responsible Drinks Retailing Police Champions and attracted National media attention with its ground breaking station graffiti project.
Devon is now the third safest place to live in the United Kingdom. In the last year incidents of anti-social behaviour have been reduced across the force by 13,190 and since 1994 incidents of burglary have gone down by 69%.
Whilst the team in Tiverton has no control over its budgetary allowance and the levels of staffing that this will in turn provide, your Police Staff and Officers will continue to strive for excellence in making Tiverton a safe and pleasant community to live in.
Officers will shortly be going off-line. If you have a question that you would like answered then please join us at our final YrSay Roadshow being held tomorrow evening between 5:00 and 78:00pm at Amory Park BMX Track.
