I thought that the carnival was a great success considering that some entries pulled out at the last minute ,The schools were brilliant and even though some were on about pulling out but didnt it makes it all worth while being on the comittee. Thanks to everyone and all that entered and help with the carnival .
From where I was standing everyone seemed to be enjoying the night! We were really lucky with the weather, and I thought the school's who entered did really well through simple yet effective and entertaining costume themed ideas - particularly the dragons from heathcoat and Mase, and also Bolham's rendition of Queen's We Will Rock You.
See you next year!

First time ive ever been and really enjoyed it, I lived in Bridgwater Somerset for a number of years and a bit different to that but felt more like you were involved and really impressed with the schools this year.
Great turn out and we were so lucky with the weather too.
See you there next year!
Paul.
it was the same old tiverton carnival it has been for years. Supposed to be better than ever???????? The school kids did really well considering it was freezing cold, but 2 "real " floats, 3 tractors, leon fasey van sales, and the RBL charity collection doesnt do it quite. I took my son who is 6 , he wanted to go home by 730 pm
thats where we will be next year - at home sorry tiverton it was same old same old crap

Can't help but agree with you, Christmasboy. While it was nice to have more of the community involved, including the schools who did a great job and made a real effort, it was the "same old crap"!
Didn't help that it was partly ruined by some of the more troublesome kids, some even running out into the road, throwing coins at people and hurling obscenities. There were plenty of police officers there, shame they're not capable of doing their job, too busy talking to Lews News no doubt.
If you actually get some proper floats (that means at least 5 or 6, hopefully more) than it could be a good night. And why not collaborate it with the light switch on, have some fireworks and live music as well. The Tiverton High Rock School did a great set for last years Christmas lights, why not have the same but all on carnival, make it a really good show. Maybe ask some local bands too play!?
All it was good for was creating an extra bit of advertising for some groups and businesses. Nothing more, nothing less. Get it right next year, Tiverton!
Loved it! Really funny video too mr Lew and his News has done - cant beat dancin' trevor! HAHAHA tinyurl.com/ydg8off

ReportI think the carnival committee worked really hard to give us the best carnival with the resources that they had to hand. All these people making disparaging comments should get off their backsides and help towards next year's carnival then perhaps they could make informed comments instead of 'it's crap' ....

ReportWell its the best I've been to but apart from a few floats it was rather depressing out in the cold watching some dreary floats. I had to make myself excited. But this year has shown It can become better, Bring on next years!

ReportIt was one of the best carnivals in my opinion. Could have done with some more floats and maybe a live band would be a good idea. A few of my friends at Tiverton high school have a band (and are quite good) I'm sure that if you aked them they would play at the carnival next year. I also agree with the idea of having the light switch on on the same evening, and the fireworks afterwards. It was a good evening and i would love to help out with next years carnival.

I can think of a few more beneficial ways to spend my time, Charlotte. I probably came up with more ideas in one post than the committee have in over ten years. Getting schools invovled is all fine and dandy but unless you actually put on a show, people aren't going to be satasfied.
Shows such as X Factor and Pop Idol prove that the British public love music and discovering new talent and what a way to showcase this talent but joining it with the carnival.
Again has anyone of the moaners considered that may be the weather had a little to do with this.As we had another 3 larger floats that pulled out during the day on saturday due the weather when they rang me i was out sorting things for this event and my children took the calls to say that they were not coming because of the weather .So stop moaning and be thankful we didnt cancel .Thankyou anyway to those who did make the carnival possible and all the entries that came along i think they were great .Hopefully we can do better next year with some more entries.
