A POPULAR Tiverton watering hole will reopen this weekend under new management. The Twyford Inn shut on Monday, February 18, when landlord Phil Grattan decided to quit the pub trade. But from 6pm on Saturday the Bampton Street premises will open under the management of Scott Standen. The 21-year-old has been running the Stag Inn, at Rackenford, for the past year, but has not been able to agree new terms with the owner. He says the Twyford will undergo a full interior and exterior revamp after Easter, but his prime focus has been to get the inn open. "I think Tiverton has been lacking a good, solid pub with traditional food, and that's what we will be offering," he said. "I wanted to get the pub open for Easter, then worry about the refurbishment later, but during April we are going to be putting in new interior floors, a new exterior and signage and a whole load of new products behind the bar. "It's very exciting and I'm full of enthusiasm for this project."
