Forty five members and two visitors attended our demonstration with the theme ‘rich pickings’ by Nicky Wright. She produced six stunning floral arrangements either modern or complementary using a wide selection of flowers in various colours, something for everyone to enjoy.
Tips for the day, condition spring flowers on their own especially daffodils. To extend the life of **** willow place in a vase with no water it will last for months. Curl phormium leaves to help give movement. If using cupressus or broom use wire to wrap around from the tip to the base this will give it a different form. If using aspidistra leaves curled group them together in an arrangement as this will emphases its shape. All the flowers were in beautiful condition and amalgamated a wide selection and they were astonishing arranged.
Her first arrangement was in an urn using iris, anemones, tulips, moss and three large fungi. Second using a stand as a base were, broom, ranunclus, white stock, green carnations and akito roses. Third a sculpture incorporating drift wood, sunflowers, red tulips, red hypericum berries and red lilies. Forth incorporating carnations, purple fleck, skimmer, green anthuriums and sisal in a large tin container. Fifth a spring design in a gold bowl made a wreath ring of birch leaving a few loose ends and placed it around the top, adding golden rod, blue hyacinthus, yellow tulips and white spray carnations. Sixth large glass vase with clear cellophane inside to give extra dimension, she had made two large leaves using both wire and bullion wire to make the veins, steel grass, eucalyptus, yellow roses, green chrysanthemums, protea, green hypericum berries, purple lisianthus and limonium.
