Adrienne Blake was our demonstrator for February. She produced five different floral arrangements whilst giving entertaining tales, on tips for competition floral art, what the judges look for and the rules they go by. She had something for everyone, the beginners in the audience, someone that needed a little extra encouragement, intermediate and the more experienced. The theme ‘flash trash’ Adrienne was able to recycle a variety of old containers and turned them into new beautiful ones that you wouldn’t recognise. Old wallpaper paste holder, old cut of chip board covered in paper mache and a broken fan cover.
First arrangement ‘little woodland’ using stripped willow, cupressus, phormium and other variegated foliage including moss, complementary flowers of white narcissus and lilies. Second an English garden using phormium, fatsia, cupressus and spotted laurel, flowers of green chrysanthemums, small gerberas, lilies and gypsophila. Third small fatsia leaves, laurel, ferns from a house plant, periwinkle and viburnum .flowers of pink lilies, lisianthus, carnations and gypsophila. Forth using two large baskets with large dried coco seeds placed between them. Flowers of gerbers and orange anthurium, fruit of pineapple and grapes gave the arrangement its finishing touch. Fifth using two aluminium containers joined together using large eucalyptus bark aspidrea leaves and just white lilies between the layers of bark. All five were beautiful created. A lovely afternoon was had by all.
