Julie O’Sullivan an area demonstrator from Exmouth gave a demonstration on the theme ‘Christmas Time’ to a well attended audience of members and visitors. She produced five floral arrangements whilst talking about amusing tales of how she became interested in flower arranging and her work which involves travelling to china.
Her first arrangement was advent, using a tall candle holder with five candles she arranged a two tier arrangement using a variety of foliage with spray carnations, pink roses and alstroemerias.
Second, living Christmas card, using a very large card with the centre missing from the front she made an arrangement inside the card, using dried summer flowers sprayed gold, with gold colour chrysanthemums, orange lilies, red and yellow roses.
Third, on a cold and frosty morning, using contorted willow, white spray chrysanthemum, carnations and gypsophila. She also added a robin, frosted glass icicles and a snowman.
Forth a table arrangements using a small glass container with large laurel leaves to hide the oasis, red carnations, a few chrysanthemums, holly berries without the leaves on, cinnamon sticks tied in a bundle, wired walnuts and ivy leaves and finally a small piece of contorted hazel.
Fifth Boxing Day, using glitter pens she made veins on the large aspridica and fatsia leaves to give a little sparkle, pittosporum and eucalyptus leaves were also used as well as , white carnations and roses, pale cream roses, star gazer lilies, purple and white orchids and a little gypsophila. To end the display she added fairy lights.
