DEVON FAIR FUNDING FOR SCHOOLS CAMPAIGN
    Did you know that:
    - Devon is currently ranked 148th poorest funded out of 151 local authorities for education funding - the worst in the South West - and the gap between Devon and the best funded authorities is growing.
    - Every pupil in every school in Devon, including Exeter, is deemed to be worth £375 less than the national average and that cannot be right.
    - Schools face similar costs for books, equipment, heat and light wherever they are situated. Rural schools often face higher costs. Upwards of 80% of the cost of running a school goes on staff and yet teachers are all on national wage scales not local or regional.
    DEVON SCHOOLS WANT.....
A fairer Government funding system that recognises every child matters equally and ends the post-code lottery of education funding in this country.
I would urge you to contact your local MP for the sake of all the children in Devon.

I think this is a really good campaign - where's the list of funding for local authorities?  I'd be interested to see who are the winners and losers.

I I can't see a way of improving this. Are teachers really going to take a paycut so the school has more money? Defiantly Not. Are companies gonna charge different prices for equipment in each individual area? Nope. Are the government going to give us any extra funding? Doubtful. But will the schools keep going regardless? Of course they will. Unfortunately it's just the way the cookie crumbled, we've got to live with it, doesn't really make a huge amount of difference anyway. I don't think our schools are any worse off than those elsewhere in the country.
