OVER £9,000 has been taken from a

man on suspicion of money laundering after being stopped on the motorway.

At around 4.30pm on Thursday October

7, members of the road crime unit stopped a vehicle along the M5, past

Cullompton, as it was believed to be used in the supply and distribution of

controlled drugs in the Cornwall area.

A 43 year old man was stopped

and searched and £8,800 in cash was recovered from the vehicle.

A can of pepper spray was

also found after the man was searched.

The man was then arrested on

suspicion of money laundering and the possession of an offensive weapon.

He was interviewed by police and released on police bail until 6 January 2011

while police continue to make enquiries.
