If you are in Tiverton and would like a lovely walk or day out then you could do a lot worse than the Grand Western Canal Country Park. The canal runs directly through it so walks alongside and through the lovely sparse woodland is a great way to spend a summers day, and its a great fishing spot also. There is a nice visitor centre, tea gardens, a really nice floating cafe, and an excellent horse-drawn barge that you can go on. A really lovely day out.

ReportI love the canal - it's peaceful, quiet, and full of wildlife. Whether or not you're there to feed the ducks, or to take a ride with one of the shire horses on the Tivertonian, it's difficult not to enjoy the delights of the area. It's ideal for people who like to walk, but not uphill as it's all flat and takes you deep into the countryside on the Devon & Somerset border.

The canal is a lovely spot to go for a walk. I recently walked the length of the canal and it was amazing to see all the wildlife on it and of course the Tivertonian Barge being pulled along by the horse.
Great place to go with kids and feed the ducks too - so make sure you take some bread!!
