MEMBERS of the Tiverton Twinning Association have been getting artistic for their trip to Germany this year.

Several members of the association have been at the High School working on a gift for Tiverton's twin town Hofheim.

The framed artwork includes pen drawings, mono-printing and pen and colour washes of the town's landmarks such as the Lowman Green clock tower and St Peter's Church.

The artwork will be presented to the town of Hofheim as a gift during the bi-annual visit in August.

Tiverton High School art teacher Jenny Pogio who helped with the twinners said: "I think it's very nice with recognisable parts of Tiverton.

"Those taking part have done very well especially since a few said they couldn't draw or paint. Lack of confidence was overcome with great effect."

Secretary of the Twinning Association Angie Cockburn added: "We tried to have buildings in Tiverton that the Germans would recognise from their visits. We also hope it will promote the town and encourage them to visit."

The Tiverton Twinning Association is currently looking for younger members and groups to get involved with them.

Mrs Cockburn added: "If there is any organisation in the town with young people who would be interested in coming and joining us in August then please get in contact with me."

For more information on how to get involved with the town's twinning contact Angie Cockburn on 01884 254376.
