golfer Jess Bradley added to her impressive list of achievements by
winning the Devon Ladies' Championship at Yelverton.
The 18-year-old hit back from two down on the back nine to beat Holsworthy's Ely Walmsley 2 and 1 in the final.
She
said: "I've been in the semi-finals before but never any further so I'm
really pleased I got to the final – and to win was amazing."
It
proved to be a double success for Tiverton after Abbie Moyes came
second in the 36-hole qualifying stages and lifted the Phillis Collett
Memorial Bowl for the best nett score.
Bradley, a one-handicapper, qualified in third place after rounds of 78 and 76.
Comfortable
victories over Exeter's Jayne Wayman (6 and 5) and Teignmouth's Vicky
Holloway (6 and 4) took her into the semi-finals for the third time in
her career.
Bradley despatched Tavistock's Jayne Wright 5 and 4 to set up a meeting with Walmsley, the top qualifier.
After slipping two down after two, a birdie on the 4th and an eagle on the par-5 5th brought Bradley back to all-square.
Walmsley again went two up before Bradley parred the 13th and birdied the 14th to level the match.
The Tiverton player then birdied the 16th to take the lead and got up and down from a difficult spot to the left of the par-3 17th with a 15-foot putt to win the hole and match.
She already had her name on all three Devon medal trophies, having won the bronze in 2005, the silver 2009 and the gold in 2010.
Bradley
has won the Devon girls' title twice and the South West version once.
She is also a two-time South West Ladies' Foursomes champion.
The teenager is currently taking a year out to concentrate on golf.
The
former Devon girls' captain has secured a golf scholarship to Lynn
University in Boca Raton, Florida, which begins in August.
Earlier this year she came 38th
out of a top international field of 99 at the Scottish Open Strokeplay
Championship at Royal Troon before finishing fifth in the PING Ladies'
Order of Merit event at Whittington Heath in Staffordshire.
In
the Devon Ladies' Championship, Bradley's club-mate Moyes claimed the
Jose Bruce Bowl for coming second in the qualifying stages.
Rounds of 75 and 76 left the four-handicapper one shot behind Walmsley.
But she took the nett prize with her three-under total of 143.
