A NEW hive of creative activity has sprung up in Tiverton with the launch of a new business which provides craft classes for children aged from toddlers up to those just starting secondary school.
Crafty Crickets is the brainchild of Sandra Caldeira-Dunkerley, of Tiverton, who runs the classes three days a week from premises in Leat Street, in Westexe.
Collage, junk modelling, group painting, clay sculpting and sweet painting for under-fives are offered on Mondays. After school, there is a sew-and-make class for children aged nine-12. Similar classes are run on Tuesdays and open sessions on Saturdays between 10am and noon when youngsters of all ages can choose what they want to do. All classes cost between £4-£6.50 and materials are provided.
Sandra has 12 years' experience in the design industry, and had the idea for the business while looking for activities to keep her two children occupied.
