Seven-year-old Neon Roberts is currently receiving radiotherapy for a brain tumour.
His mother Sally, who lived in Tiverton until recently, lost a high profile court battle to try and stop him having radiotherapy. She feared that the treatment would cause long-term harm to her son and argued that "credible" alternative treatment was available for him.
Specialists treating Neon accepted that there were side-effects to radiotherapy but said that without the treatment the youngster could die within a few months.
But Miss Roberts has now set up an appeal for money to help fund legal fees to challenge the decision and cover the cost of on-going treatments if she is successful in getting her son out to America.
