SHAW'S WEEKLY HAIR GUIDE: Things to consider.....
By SHAW - TONI&GUY TRAINED 'MOBILE' HAIRDRESSER | Sunday, August 18, 2013, 12:25
If you would like to discuss any of the areas listed below, please give me a call, text or email to book your 'No cost, No obligation' Full hair cut, colour and style consultation....
YOUR HAIR TYPE, TEXTURE AND DENSITY
TYPE: Is your hair very tightly curled, straight and lank, thick and strong, wavy or curly?
TEXTURE: Is it fine, medium or coarse?
DENSITY: Relates to the number of hairs on the head.
The type, texture and density of your hair can determine what looks you are able to achieve.
A professional consultation really is key to a great result!
WHAT IS YOUR FACE SHAPE?
ROUND, SQUARE, HEART SHAPED OR OVAL?
The best way to determine your face shape is to pull back your hair, stand in front of a mirror (make sure you have glass cleaner to hand!) and draw around the reflection of your face with a lipstick (following your hairline). The shape on the mirror, is your face shape!
A well considered, great cut and style will highlight your best features and can disguise those you dislike..
WILL YOUR HAIRSTYLE SUIT YOUR LIFESTYLE?
How much time and money are you prepared to commit to keeping your hair looking great? All too often I hear my clients say that they used to walk out of the salon looking great, but when they came to styling their hair themselves, they could never create anything like the same look....Ideally, if you want something low maintenance, we need to work with your hair not against it.
IS MY HAIR LONG ENOUGH FOR THE STYLE I WANT?
During an 'In depth' style consultation, you may decide you would like to grow your hair into a longer, softer style....If you have a goal, together we can work towards getting you there!
HOW ABOUT A FRINGE?
The choices are endless (I have a style gallery on my iPad devoted soley to fringes!) and there really is a fringe to flatter every face shape and suit every hair type.....The right fringe can make a style......Whether it's thick and straight, long or short, sweeping to the side, soft and wispy, wide or narrow....There is a fringe 'out there' for you!
This can be a big decision and there's lots to consider. On the one hand it could cut a huge amount of time off your maintenance regime, on the other, if your hair has i.e. a strong curl, you could end up with a battle on your hands!....The shorter your hair, the stronger the curl will become. The other thing to consider is that some haircuts will suit your body shape better than others, whether you are tall, petite, curvy, busty, pear shaped, apple shaped, boyish, fuller figured or very slim remember your hair can be your best asset!
Layers can add movement and volume to fine hair, frame round, long or angular faces and remove weight from thicker hair making it easier to style however if cut too short....(Something I frequently see).....They can make your hair extremelly difficult to manage especially if naturally curly....Getting the right length of layers to suit you and your hair is essential.
MAKING THE MOST OF NATURAL CURLS
Selecting a style that will work with your curls is key to a low maintenance look. It's important that 'Bounce Back' is taken into consideration when cutting, as those of you who have naturally curly hair will know, if a stylist cuts 2" off your length, once dry you can count on that looking like 4"+! Also, using the correct products is key....Use a moisturising mask weekly. If you love your curls use a curl enhancing shampoo and conditioner. Finish with a gloss serum or spray to enhance shine.
The options really are endless with warm golden blondes, dark chocolate browns, golden reds, caramels, auburns......The list goes on, but the key to having a great colour is to take into account and enhance your skin tone. As a general rule, if you suit cool colours such as silver, blues, greys and mauves, your skin tone is cool however if you suit colours such as golds, reds, and oranges, your skin tone is warm. Some people are lucky enough to suit both!
For a full 'no obligation' colour consultation please don't hesitate to get in touch.....It's always good to talk!
