New Tiverton Gospel Choir is ready for its first public concert

THE New Tiverton Gospel Choir (TNTGC) is to perform in their first concert since its formation this week.

The choir which was founded in January by Joy Parke and Sian Brooks will perform with The Craig Milverton Trio at Moorhayes Community Centre on Friday 15 June.

The choir will be performing well known songs such as Hallelujah, Amazing Grace and Happy Day.

Joy Parke said: “I think Devon has a lot of music happening in it, and there’s a lot of choirs but not so much gospel going on.

“My plan was to make this real authentic gospel with lots of emotion and feeling which comes with it.”

Choir member Cathy Fisher added: “We’ve become a big family since January and we’re really looking forward to our first chance to perform in public.

“I think it will be a fantastic evening. Gospel is a really uplifting type of music and we hope the audience will be singing along with us.”

Concert tickets cost £7 for adults and £6 for under-16s and are available from Twyford Photography or the Tourist Information Centre.

Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm at Moorhayes Community Centre where tickets will cost £8 on the night.
