MOTORISTS faced disruption yesterday evening when a lorry overturned blocking a section of the North Devon link road.

The articulated tanker was carrying 20 tonnes of Molasses, a

honey-like substance made when cane or beet sugar is processed, and

tipped over on off Bolham roundabout joining the A361 in Tiverton.

Two fire crews from Wellington and Taunton were called at 4:48pm on Thursday 2 February.

Police say the road is blocked on the Barnstaple side of the A361.

The driver is currently still in the tanker, although not

physically trapped, while paramedics and fire crews assess his

condition.

The driver was removed and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The crews used environmental packs to stem the flow of Molasses and diesel leaking from the vehicle and cranes are thought to have removed the lorry by midnight.
