Hodges disappointed as Truro's game at Basingstoke called off

Truro City's Blue Square Bet South game at Basingstoke Town today was postponed last night following an early evening inspection of the Camrose.
City officials were alerted yesterday morning that the game was subject to a pitch inspection and Basingstoke officials' concerns were realised when a referee made his decision just after 5pm.
Truro player-manager Lee Hodges admitted: "Obviously you are disappointed when a game is off and we are no different.
"But you can see by looking around the country that the freezing conditions have caused a lot of postponements."
Hodges – who would have been ruled out of the game by injury – was last night pleased to confirm the signing of former Salisbury City winger Adam Kelly.
Kelly – who has scored 14 goals in 77 Salisbury appearances – was a free agent as his contract with Wiltshire's Whites was cancelled by mutual agreement earlier this week. That has enabled injury-hit Truro to swoop for the winger.
Hodges said: "I am delighted to get Adam in. He has trained with us and looks lively and with the injuries we have, will be a real boost to the squad.
"Besides, since Dan Smith left, we have been short of cover on the wings and Adam is an out-and-out winger.
"I am sure he will excite the fans. He is exactly what we were hoping to bring in.
"He will fit into the team well and is hard working and enthusiastic, the sort of player we want at Truro."
Coincidentally, Truro's next league game is at home to Salisbury a week today.
If today's game had gone ahead, Hodges may not have been able to call on the experience of Stewart Yetton.
The popular attack-minded player – who can operate in midfield or the front line – suffered a slight injury setback during training on Thursday night. Hodges said: "He just tweaked his knee a bit again by being his usual 100 per cent self and trying to block a pass. Hopefully, he will be all right by next week."
Hodges – who has been ruled out by a groin strain – said: "As for myself, I am looking at another couple of weeks. We will just have to see how it goes."
Truro's league rivals Eastbourne Borough have confirmed the appointment of former Salisbury manager Tommy Widdrington as their new first-team boss.
Expect a raft of pitch inspections across the region today, including one at the Hand Stadium at 9.15am, where Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West leaders Bideford are due to be Clevedon Town's visitors.
There will also be a morning pitch inspection at Ladysmead, where in-form Tiverton Town are set to host mid-table rivals Bishop's Cleeve.
Tiverton side Willand Rovers will also wait before travelling to Odd Down in the Toolstation Western League as the Bath club's Combe Hay Lane pitch is subject to a 10.30am check.
