Gymnasts Win Gold
-
First Place In The Sapphire Invitational FIG Teams
Tiverton gymnast, Jasmine Reed-Yang, aged 14, travelled up to Hemel Hempstead
for the Sapphire Invitational Team Competition as part of the county team. This was the first time the competition had taken
place and it was unlike any other! The event had a fiesta feel with host was
dressed as buzz lightyear from toy story, loud music and whistles reverberating
around the hall and the gymnasts conga
dancing to each piece.
Jasmine went clean on beam doing her onodi, flick-layout,
front walkover with a few wobbles but
managed her highest beam score so far this season with 12.50.
On vault she scored scored
13.30 competing a straight Yuchenko. Bars
is always the most exciting, challenging piece
with Jasmine falling twice:
once on her new element the Shap and on her double front somersault dismount
but she she managed to score a very creditable 11.05 for the team 11.05. On Floor Jasmine competed
her new dramatic style floor routine for the first time but without her double
piked backed somersault as she is just returning from a serious knee injury.
In the end her final score was 48.75 which was her highest score
of the season so far. The team came first and were rewarded for their efforts
with gold holographic medals!

ReportI never would have thought Tiverton had so many talented gymnasts! Success in Exeter and in Hemel Hempstead for our town.
