Flooding expected in Tiverton

FLOODING IS imminent in parts of Tiverton this evening and overnight. Although the heavy showers are moving away from the area, the Environment Agency is maintaining its flood warning for the River Lowman. At 2.30pm (Thursday 11 October) the agency said that although the main band of rain had cleared the area, river levels "are still rising and will continue to rise rapidly for the next hour".
Areas affected could include properties and roads in low-lying areas of Tiverton, including Tiverton Business Park, Chapel Street, Station Road, Blundells Road, Tumbling Fields and Lowman Green.
At 3.29pm, the Mid Devon Gazette reported on this website that Lowman Green was severely flooded and "it's chucking it down".
At 6.52pm, the agency said that flooding is expected in Tiverton. Immediate action is required.
