Chess players represent Devon

SIX Abbey School chess players represented Devon in the annual West of England and South Wales Jamboree at Tiverton.

Jim Knott, Ben Sturt and William Rutland represented Devon in the under-11 team and Declan Davies, Marcus Kaye and Matthew Rutland played for the under-nine Devon team.
Some 170 children filled the Tiverton High School hall for the event organised this year by the Devon Junior Chess Association.
Devon were pitched against Somerset, Wiltshire and South Wales and came second in the under-11 and third in the under-nine.
Jim Knott and Ben Sturt both won all of their games.
