Balloon man awarded Tiverton's local legend prize

TIVERTON'S local legend had his photograph paraded around town on a giant billboard this afternoon.

Jeff Rawlings from JT's Partyhouse won the Tiverton People local legends award earlier in the year.

He was nominated and voted for by users of the hyperlocal website which this month celebrates its second birthday.

Jeff said: "I was very surprised at the fun vehicle to advertise the website. I am humbled to be chosen as the local legend.

"I have had my haircut and my shirt ironed for this day, but I haven't waxed my legs.

"It is not just about the balloons though. I think I was nominated for running the junior Twyford Spartans as well as this week setting up a new football disability team."

The shop has also been given several flyers to hand out to customers. "We have had lots of people coming in and having a giggle at my photo on the counter" Jeff added.

His wife Tracey is considering having the photo made into a pillow so she can sleep on top of Jeff every night.

The photo was also sent to Jeff's mother Eiluned in Lancashire who said: "He really gets involved don't he."
